The algorithm updates happen on regular interval of time. Panda, penguin, hummingbird or pigeon they all seems to the name of cute creatures, but not in Digital Marketing J These names are widely used by Google for different algorithm updates.  The Google panda update is focused on improving quality of content, however the Penguin updates is focused on quality of back-links (In-Bound links). The hummingbird update by Google is        for handling accuracy in conversational search queries even if a website is not optimized for the queries. Panda Update – The Panda update was introduced by Google in order to low quality contents from Google search results.

  • Duplicate Content – The websites having copied content from other websites were penalized by this update.
  • Content length – Websites having lack of content length were penalized by Google as they were not providing enough information to the users.

Penguin Update  – This update penalized those websites, having poor quality of back-links. As these types of website were creating so many un-ethical practices to get as many back-links as possible.

  • Low quality External links – The websites having so many poor quality back-links were attacked by this update.
  • Excessive Keyword Stuffing – Excessive keyword stuffing in a web page looks ugly. Because of better readability, Google penalized the same category of websites.

Pigeon Update – This update helps google show better local results.

  • Local Results – It is an attempt by Google to combine useful local results when someone searches with the keywords. In order to provide best possible results, Google consider location, Reviews, distance etc. as ranking factors.

Hummingbird Update – This update helps Google think like human. Google is more smart with this update now.

  • Contextual Search – Instead of considering exact match keywords, Google is now able to understand your search query as human brain. For example, when you search in Google – PM of India, Google will show you the name “Narendra Modi” at the top of search results. Google is now understanding intent of users queries in a better way and helping them in a better way.

The Domain Authority is varied from 0 to 100. The Moz calculates the score based on logarithmic scale based on popularity of a website, MozTrust, MozRank, number of quality backlinks, user experience, social signals, Site load time, usability, Traffic, bounce rate etc. It would be easier to increase the domain authority from 20-30 than to grow from 80-90. The same case applies with the Page Authority as well.

The first process includes Initial Process and then we go for On-page optimization and finally Off-page SEO is required.

The Initial process includes some important steps which can help you to get better rank in quick time.

If possible Choose the SEO optimized Domain: Suppose your client’s business is for Volleyball training, you can go with the domain like businessnamevolleyball.com. However it is not necessary but it helps to rank higher in quick time if you choose a part of main Keyword in Domain.

Keywords Search : You should use some tools like Google Keyword Planner to search good keywords for the new website.

Purchase domain of Country Specific Extension: If your Website is for United Kingdom you should choose a domain like www.xyz.co.uk. What I mean is to choose a domain based on your country specific extension.

See Competitors: It is required for a Business to keep an eye on our competitors. We should do depth analysis on top competitors so that we can plan the work something better than or in the level of them. You should see their pages, Urls, backlinks, Local listings etc.

On-Page SEO Process:

In My Views, On-Page SEO is most important for a Website to get higher rank. You need to optimize everything from start. Here I am going to share some important steps for a new website-

  1. Make SEO friendly Urls – You need to make keyword targeted urls. You should optimize pages or posts urls in a way that they look good and covers your targeted Keywords.
  2. Title, Alt and Meta Tags – Put title tag of a website below 55 characters. It is to be remembered that Google shows the results in pixel limitations. So I suggest you to use a title up to 55 characters. The Meta Description Length should be under 120 to 155 characters. You should implement Alt tags on images and anchor text on Links for better SEO.
  3. Interlinking – This one is important for a website to link pages to each other as much as possible. You should give the links on Keywords in Content too.
  4. Create Sitemap – You need to create an XML sitemap. You can create a sitemap yourself or you can use free online Sitemap generator.
  5. Webmaster Tools & Analytics– You need to signup for Google and Bing Webmaster tools so that you can submit your sitemap to crawl faster. However you can also go for Google Analytics so that you can see the performance of website in depth.

  7. Check 301/404 errors– It is required to check if there is any error in a website. check for broken links and resolve them. You can do 301 redirect to these types of links. Also create a 404 page for better experience among users.
