All three are issued by Google Skillshop, which is Google’s own official training and certification platform. These are not third-party certificates. Google itself sets the exam, updates the curriculum, and issues the credential.

Why I Keep Renewing Certifications Even After 15 Years

I started doing digital marketing in 2010. Fifteen years is a long time in this industry. I have seen Google Ads go from basic keyword bidding to machine learning driven auction systems that most people still do not fully understand.
Here is the honest reason I keep clearing these exams every year — Google changes things constantly.
Smart Bidding, Performance Max, AI-Powered Shopping — these are not just new features. They are entirely different ways of thinking about paid advertising. If I am running your Google Ads budget and I have not kept up with how the platform actually works today, I am wasting your money. Simple as that.
Clearing these certifications every year forces me to stay current. It is not about the badge. It is about making sure my knowledge is not running on 2019 logic in a 2026 platform.
What the AI-Powered Shopping Ads Certification Means for eCommerce Clients
This one I want to talk about separately because it is genuinely new and most PPC freelancers in India have not cleared it yet.
Google’s Shopping Ads have evolved significantly. The AI-Powered Shopping certification covers how Google’s machine learning now controls bidding, product matching, and audience targeting inside Shopping campaigns. If you are running an eCommerce store and your PPC expert is still setting up Shopping campaigns the old manual way, you are leaving conversions on the table.

What Google Display Certification Covers
Display often gets dismissed as a brand awareness tool. In my experience, when set up correctly, Display can be a strong remarketing and lead nurturing channel even for small budgets.
The Display certification covers audience targeting, responsive display ad creation, and how to use Google’s automated placements intelligently without burning budget on irrelevant sites.
For my clients running lead generation campaigns, Display remarketing is something I actively recommend — and this certification keeps my approach updated with how the platform currently works.
